This study investigates the secreted proteome of Ustilaginoidea virens under different environmental conditions and during disease development. We performed mass spectrometry-based proteomic analysis of extracellular proteins from cultures grown under nutrient-rich and nutrient-poor conditions, as well as from infected rice spikelets during false smut ball formation. The dataset provides insights into the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interaction and environmental adaptation in this important rice pathogen.
