A lectin was isolated from the saline extract (150 mM NaCl) of the seed of Artorarpus camansi. The lectin is very similar to the one reported by Moreira in 1998. In this project, affinity chromatography for binding alpha galactose residues was also used.
. The lectin does not require divalent metal cations (Ca'+ and Mn'+) for activity.
The lectin presents subunits of approximately 16 kDa in relative abundance results for intact mass as well as a weight in tetrameric condition of approximately 65kDa. The lectin is glycosylated and presents a variety of isoforms due to different states of glycosylation.
