To investigate direct effects of pesticide exposure on queen health, we tested a range of doses of coumaphos (a common miticide), atrazine (an endocrine disruptor), and a cocktail of the 9 most abundant agrochemicals/pesticides found in beeswax. Doses for all ranged from 1x (where x = the median wax concentration) to 32x, administered as a 2 ul (in acetone) topical application to the thorax. We found no significant effect of the treatments.
