Description
SS_SPAWN - These are samples of both coral tissue metabolites and water column metabolites collected through needle biopsies and PPL resins from the 2024 Shedd aquarium cruise aboard the CRII. The aim of this study is to assess the microbial and metabolomic profile of a coral colony and the surrounding seawater before, during, and after a spawning event to isolate molecular cues responsible for spawning synchrony and understand resulting changes to microbial communities. Untargeted LC-MS/MS acquisition was performed on a Vanquish Flex UHPLC system coupled to an Orbitrap Exploris 240 (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Bremen, Germany). Chromatographic separation was performed on a Kinetex 1.7 um 100 A pore size C18 reversed phase UHPLC column 150 x 2.1 mm (Phenomenex, Torrance, CA).
